Illegal cricket betting racket busted in East Godavari, 13 arrested
The Peddapuram sub-division police busted a cricket betting racket and arrested 13 persons, including the alleged kingpin Busala Vishnumurty, during a raid in Rajapudi village of Jaggampeta Mandal in East Godavari on Saturday.

East Godavari: The Peddapuram sub-division police busted a cricket betting racket and arrested 13 persons, including the alleged kingpin Busala Vishnumurty, during a raid in Rajapudi village of Jaggampeta Mandal in East Godavari on Saturday.
The team led by sub-divisional police officer Aritakula Srinivasarao, special branch inspector J.V Ramana, Jaggampet circle inspector V. Suresh Babu, and sub-inspector Lakshmikantham conducted the raid. Two laptops used in the betting operation, Rs. 1.26 lakhs cash, and five cell phones were seized. The prime accused Vishnumurty tried to escape but the police caught him.
Most of the arrests were made based on the data recovered from the laptops.
While applauding the Peddapuram sub-divisional police team for the successful operation, SP Ravindranath Babu said that some accused persons were still at large but he was confident the police would nab them soon based on the clues.
The SP further said that the police would come down with an iron hand on illegal activities such as gambling, cockfights, cricket betting, and in addition to criminal action, rowdy sheets would be opened against all the accused.
