Vijayawada: The tourism sector in Andhra Pradesh is set to boom as top private companies are planning to invest Rs.2868.6 crore in various projects to make the state a world-class destination.
Officials said companies will invest Rs 250 crore in each project. It will provide employment to 48,000 people and 1564 new rooms will be made available.
Companies have assured the government that they would complete all these projects in five years. Oberoi Company will setup resorts in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Gandikota, Horsley Hills, and Pitchukalanka. They will be part of Oberoi Vilas.
Hayat group will construct a Star Hotel and Convention Center at Shilparamam in Vishakapatnam. Taj Varun Beach will come up in Visakhapatnam. Tunnel Aquarium and Sky tower will come up in Visakhapatnam and Hyatt Palace Hotel in Vijayawada.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy chaired the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting on Wednesday and directed the authorities to complete the projects on time.
He said the availability of modern facilities will help to improve tourism. Jagan said that international footfalls will also increase.
He said the people who are dependent directly or indirectly on the tourism sector will get better opportunities. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to focus on bringing the London-Eye-type project to Visakhapatnam.
