During an hour-long meeting with the minister on the second day of his two-day visit, the Chief Minister held discussions on the preparation of DPR for the National Highway from Visakhapatnam Port to Bhogapuram via Rushikonda and Bheemili. Jagan said the proposed road will connect Visakhapatnam port to Odisha and Chhattisgarh and it will also run close to the beach corridor projects along the coast.
He said the highway would contribute to the development of tourism in the region and help people reach Bhogapuram International Airport easily. Jagan has sought a six-lane highway considering traffic congestion in Vishakhapatnam.
The Chief Minister requested the Union minister to consider the state government's previous appeal for a bypass road on the eastern side of Vijayawada and said the land acquisition will be completed as soon as possible. He added that exemption would be given on SGST and royalty to reduce the cost of the project and urged the minister to take up the project as soon as possible.
Jagan has also requested extending the four-lane road in Bapatla as part of the construction of NH-216 of Kathipudi-Ongole corridor as there is a possibility of traffic jams due to educational institutions, tourists, and the air base.
