Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife Y.S Bharathi took the COVID-19 vaccine on 1 April at the 140th ward secretariat, Bharatpet, Guntur initiating the vaccination process in the state.
The Chief Minister urged all eligible people aged above 45 years to get vaccinated and said the state-wide vaccination programme will be completed in 90 days. Reiterating that coexistence with COVID-19 is inevitable, Jagan said that vaccination is the only way to prevent infection.
Further, he said that the government has launched the massive vaccination programme by involving village and ward secretariats. He said a house-to-house survey would be conducted by village volunteers and Asha workers to ensure that every eligible person is vaccinated. The volunteers will collect details of beneficiaries, enroll them, and give them a vaccination date.
He also said that as part of precautionary measures, an ambulance will be made available along with doctors and other medical staff at the secretariat.
After taking the vaccine jab, the Chief Minister was kept under medical observation for a while. Later he interacted with doctors and secretariat staff.
Ministers Alla Nani, Mekathoti Sucharita, Sriranganatha Raju, MLAs Ambati Rambabu, Kilari Rosaiah, and Alla Ramakrishna Reddy were present.
