Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on introducing International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus in government schools.

Addressing students, Jagan said, ā€œThe day of introducing world-class International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus in Andhra Pradesh government schools is not far. This will ensure that our students attain number one positions in their respective fields and become perfect global leaders.ā€

Jagan was speaking at the felicitation ceremony for state-level rankers in SSC and intermediate at the ā€˜Jagananna Animuthyaluā€™ (state brilliance awards), on Tuesday. Starting with a cash award of Rs 5,000 to Rs 1 lakh, about 42 students who topped Class 10 at the state level, and 26 students who stood as group-wise toppers in intermediate in government and government-managed institutions, received awards.

The government has rolled out the state brilliance awards as an elaborate recognition and felicitation framework that also includes monetary awards.

A total of 22,710 students who have been identified - top three students from state, district, constituency and school levels in each category (zilla parishad, municipal, model and tribal/social welfare residential) institutions shall receive the awards.

The chief minister called on eligible students not to shy away from international admissions in up to 350 foreign colleges even if the tuition fees run up to Rs 1.25 crore, promising them that the state government will stand by them. Though the poorest people study in government schools, Jagan said there will come a day when all the people in the state ā€œwill see them rule the world.ā€
