Kadapa: A 35-year-old Andhra man from Kadapa district died by suicide in the Kuwait Central Jail on Wednesday night, days after he was arrested in a triple murder case.
P. Venkatesh, a resident of Dinepadu village in Lakkireddy mandal in Kadapa district, went to Kuwait along with his wife Swathi three years ago. He was working as a driver for Sher Ahmed, an 80-year-old businessman in Ardia town in Kuwait.
According to the police, Venkatesh allegedly killed Sher Ahmed, his wife Kalda (62), and daughter Asuma (18). He was arrested and sent to 21-day remand. Soon after his arrest, at the request of his family, the Indian Embassy officials in Kuwait consulted the Kuwait police.
Venkatesh's wife Swathi who worked as a domestic help in Kuwait was sent back to India. She approached the Lakkireddypalle police and lodged a complaint alleging that her husband was framed for murder. Swathi also approached Kadapa collector V. Vijay Rama Raju requesting him to bring her husband to India.
Swathi said the three members were killed by miscreants but her husband was booked in the case. According to Swathi, her husband Venkatesh had got a new job but he visited Sher Ahmed's house once or twice to resolve some issues. She claims that her husband did not kill himself.
