Kadapa: Road graffiti gives rise to Tipu Sultan controversy

Kadapa: The Tipu Sultan controversy has again started in Kadapa after someone wrote "Tipu Sultan road" on a divider in Jinnah Road circle in Proddutur, YSR Kadapa district, on Friday night. The district officials immediately painted over the writing.

In July 2021, BJP state president Somu Veerraju staged a protest at the municipal office in Proddutur against setting up a statue of Tipu Sultan in the town. According to the BJP state president, the plan to erect the statue of Tipu Sultan in Proddutur town is hurting the sentiments of Hindus. Instead, the statue of Abdul Kalam should be erected, he demanded.

Recently, MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy performed bhumi puja for setting up a statue of Tipu Sultan on Jinnah Road.
