Vijayawada: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday appointed Kasireddy Venkata Rajendra Nath Reddy as the new director-general of police.
The outgoing DGP, D. Gautam Sawang, has been transferred and asked to report to the general administration department for further posting.
Mr. Kasi Reddy, a 1992-batch IPS officer, was the director-general of police (Intelligence) since May 2020. Earlier, he had worked in various positions, including DCP East Zone in Hyderabad, Vijayawada Railway SP, and Vijayawada city police commissioner.
Before taking over as the Intelligence chief, he had held the posts of director-general, Vigilance and Enforcement, and ex-officio principal secretary to the government.
It is pertinent to note that Mr. Gautam Sawang is retiring in 2023.
