Krishna water to reach every household in NTR district's A Konduru mandal

NTR district: Very soon, the Krishna river water will be supplied to every household in A Konduru mandal in NTR district where several chronic kidney diseases are being reported.

State minister for medical, health and family welfare Vidadala Rajini along with other officials visited the area and spoke to the people affected by the kidney disease. Currently, there are 378 patients in 15 thandas (tribal villages) with a population of 15,000. Among the affected, 10 patients require dialysis.

A project worth Rs. 38 crores has been sanctioned and works will be taken up under the Jal Jeevan Mission. As of now, purified drinking water is being supplied to 15 tribal villages through tankers. In the next six months, all the villages will be provided water through a pipeline being set up at a budget of Rs. 6 crores.

Kidney treatment at PHC

The health minister said the kidney patients need not visit hospitals in Vijayawada as all medical support, including dialysis units, is being provided at the local primary health centres (PHCs).

Another three dialysis units will be set up locally at Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, Nuzvid Area Hospital and Aarogyasri empanelled private hospitals. A 12-seater mini medical van with equipment has been dedicated to the villages to transport patients to hospitals.

The health minister advised all villagers, particularly those above 25 years of age, to get diagnosed for kidney ailments as a precautionary measure.
