Chittoor: Stating that Kuppam constituency has seen development after the YSRCP took over the reins, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday announced that the pension amount will be hiked to Rs. 2,750 from January. Pensions will be hiked to Rs. 2,750 from Rs. 2,500, he said and added it will reach the promised figure of Rs. 3,000.

Speaking at the Cheyutha disbursement function held at Animiganipalle on Friday, the Chief Minister said, unlike the previous Chandrababu Naidu government, under the YSRCP-led government, all sections of people are witnessing development. The weeklong Cheyutha festival will be held at Kuppam.

Jagan said that for the third consecutive year, 26.39 lakh beneficiaries are receiving Rs. 4,949.44 crores directly in their bank accounts. Under YSR Cheyutha, in the past three years, Rs. 14,110.62 crores were disbursed while Rs. 19,617 crores were disbursed under Amma Vodi to 44.50 beneficiaries. Under YSR Asara, Rs. 12,758 crores were disbursed to 78.74 lakh beneficiaries while Rs. 3,615 crores were given under the YSR Zero Interest scheme.

In total, the government has given Rs. 3.12 lakh crores under DBT and non-DBT, of which Rs. 2.39 lakhs was for women.

"While the budget was the same for the previous government and our government, why could they not carry out the welfare schemes while we have been carrying them out with transparency?" he asked.

Listing out the development works done in Kuppam, the Chief Minister said water to Kuppam canal and municipality status to Kuppam was given by Jagan while Chandrababu Naidu, who was Chief Minister for 14 years, could not take up any development activity. He is known for his backstabbing politics, he said of Mr. Naidu. "From Rs. 6.5 crore Reddipalli Ramkuppam power substation to Railway underbridge to integrated office complex to sanctioning of Rs. 20 crores to Dravida University, all were done by this government," Jagan said.
