Visakhapatnam: Revenue Department retrieved the prime government land from TDP Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu at Rushikonda in Vizag city on Sunday morning.

Located in survey number 21, the land measuring 293 square yards was under the possession of TDP Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu. The value of the land is estimated at Rs 3 crore.

However, the followers of the MLA said Ramakrishnababu purchased this "private land" from a medical professional 15 years ago.

After keeping quiet for all these years, the revenue department swung into action and retrieved the land.

Similarly, the revenue officials pitched a board warning trespassers in a D Patta land in Anandapuram Mandal about 30 km from the city. The 20-acre land plot is adjacent to 69-acre private land owned by former Anakapalle MLA Peela Govind Satyanarayana.

The former MLA said that false rumors were spread that the officials put boards in his 69 acres of land.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member and senior YSRCP leader V Vijaysai Reddy once again accused TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu of justifying land grabbing.

"Which political party will object to filing cases against land grabbers? Naidu is aging. He has lost the direction of the party. Taking back government land is not an act of political vengeance," Vijaysai Reddy said.

He said the SIT report was ready and it will be submitted to the government very shortly. The report would further help to get back the government land.

The MP said he along with the ministers, MPs, and MLAs held discussions on the party affairs and development of Visakhapatnam city. Important among them were the implementation of the house committee report on Gajuwaka lands and Panchagrama Simhachalam land issue.

He said distribution of houses and house site patta would begin from December 25 and the government would see that every poor family in the district gets it.

Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said people involved in land grabbing or encroachment will not be spared.

He was referring to reclaiming government land from TDP sitting MLA and former MLA on Sunday.
