Lokesh challenges Jagan to order CBI probe into Pesaravai double murders

Kurnool/AmaravatiI: TDP national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Friday challenged chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and YCP Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Pesaravai double murders of TDP leaders in Kurnool district.

Lokesh visited Pesaravai on Friday and paid his last respects to the mortal remains of the slain brothers and TDP leaders Voddu Nageswara Reddy and Voddu Pratap Reddy. He consoled the bereaved family members and assured all support to them from the party.

During his visit, Lokesh accused the chief minister and his party MLAs of reviving and resorting to faction killings only to cover up their inefficiencies and failures to do any good for the Rayalaseema people. The Voddu brothers were targeted and eliminated just because they were earning political goodwill with their developmental activities during TDP chief Chandra Babu's regime in AP. Over 15 persons were accused of their murders but the police could not arrest even one of them till now.

Addressing a press conference later, Lokesh said some police officials were becoming indirect accomplices in the murder of the TDP leaders. Voddu Nageswara Rao's revolver was taken over by the police in the last local body elections. But the weapon was not returned to him in time. If the police did their duty properly, Nageswara Rao and his brother would not have become victims now, he said. The TDP would pay back with interest all the crimes and offenses made by the YCP leaders with the active support of some police in the state.

Nara Lokesh deplored that over 27 TDP leaders in the state were eliminated under the 'Faction Reddy regime' in the past two years. While Naidu restored peace and brought industries and jobs to Rayalaseema, Jagan brought back faction killings only to disturb the peace for his selfish political and personal interests, he said. It was pathetic that this CM was not able to solve the murder mystery of his own 'babay YS Vivekananda Reddy', he said.

Decrying the ruling YCP's 'political vendetta', Lokesh asserted that the Pesaravai brothers were targeted just because they were fighting against the atrocious Raja Reddy constitution under the Jagan regime. The whole people of AP saw how the two TDP leaders were murdered in broad daylight but no action was taken so far. Jagan Reddy should realise that those who live by the knife would die by the knife.

Lokesh asked whether the present CM could hold his padayatra from one end to the other end of the state if Naidu used similar cheap tactics of threats and vendetta. False cases and fake arrests have become the order of the day, he said. The whole country was shocked at the 'custodial beating' of YSRCP's own MP Raghurama Raju and everyone was discussing how Jagan turned AP into south India's Bihar.

Nara Lokesh said that the 15 accused in the Pesaravai killings included Srikant Reddy, Rajeswar Reddy and Damodar Reddy. The YCP leaders were shouting like dogs and talking about their party MLA's resignation.
