Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh for two consecutive days starting Tuesday. This prediction stems from the anticipated intensification of an existing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, expected to transform into a depression.

As per the IMD, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema are projected to experience heavy rainfall during this period. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in various parts of the region, including North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam.

A Meteorological official explained in a press release, ā€œThe low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to the upper tropospheric level persists. It is likely to move west-north westwards and intensify into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal on November 15.ā€

The weather system is anticipated to progress in a northwest direction, intensifying into a deep depression on the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 16. Subsequently, it is expected to recurve in the northeast direction and reach the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on November 17.

The IMD notes the presence of a trough from the cyclonic circulation extending over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka. Concurrently, lower tropospheric northeasterly winds prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Cloudy weather has been observed in several parts of the southern state over the past few days. As the weather system evolves, residents are advised to stay informed about updates from meteorological authorities and take necessary precautions in light of the forecasted heavy rainfall and associated weather conditions.
