Mild earthquake shakes Vizag, ASR district; no loss of life, property reported

Visakhapatnam: Panic gripped people after a mild earthquake jolted parts of Vizag city and Alluri Sitarama Raju district in the early hours of Tuesday.
A “seismic-like event, possible earthquake” was reported at around 10.49 pm GMT (4.19 am IST) in Vizag. Early reports from seismologists suggest the quake measured approximately 4.0 on the Richter scale, classifying it as a low-intensity event.
The tremor was felt in Arilova, Adivivaram, Madhavadhara, Akkayyapalem, HB Colony, Allipuram, Endada, Bheemili, and Pendurthi areas.
According to residents, the ground shook briefly, accompanied by a loud rumbling noise, particularly along the Bheemili Beach Road. Mild tremors were also reported from the Simhachalam area. Alarmed by the shaking, many people rushed out of their homes for safety.

Authorities are assessing the situation, though no damage or casualties have been reported so far.
