Mission Delhi: Jagan meets PM Modi; seeks steel plant, grants for Polavaram project

In more than an hour's meeting, Jagan appealed to Modi to focus on the unresolved issues.

He called for speeding up the work on the Polavaram project. Rs 17,144 crore will be required for the construction of the first phase, which is under consideration by the Union Jal Shakti Ministry.
Rs 7230.14 crore worth of dues for the electricity supplied to Telangana from June 2014 to June 2017 are still pending
He discussed the lack of rationality in the implementation of the National Food Security Act. Jagan said 56 lakh families in the state are not getting ration from the Centre. This is putting a burden of Rs 5,527 crore on the state exchequer every year. About 1 lakh tonnes of rice lie unused at the Centre every month. Out of this, 77,000 tonnes can be given to the state. CM requested the PM to intervene immediately
Jagan also reminded of pending promises made at the time of state bifurcation.

He reminded to the Centre about their promise at the time of bifurcation to construct a steel plant in the Kadapa district. The CM shed light on how this project is very important for improving the living standards of the backward Rayalaseema region.
The CM requested the Prime Minister to instruct the Ministry of Mines to allocate three mines to the APMDC for the steel plant, which needs iron ore*
He urged to sanction the subsidy arrears of Rs 1,702.90 crore that have been pending from 2012-13 to 2017-18 to the AP Civil Supplies Department.
Earlier in the day, Jagan met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah for 45 minutes. He also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
