Monsoon advances in Andhra; people to get relief from scorching heat
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, southwest monsoons are progressing in the state. Monsoons will cover the entire Andhra Pradesh by June 23, after which moderate to heavy rains will pick up.

Vijayawada: There is good news for the people of Andhra Pradesh. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast relief from the severe heatwave conditions as a good amount of rain is expected in the next 48 hours.
The state will have light to moderate rains for the next five days.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, southwest monsoons are progressing in the state. Monsoons will cover the entire Andhra Pradesh by June 23, after which moderate to heavy rains will pick up.
Currently, the conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of southern peninsular India during the next two to three days. The monsoons are currently in Puttaparthi and Sriharikota, and they will progress further to other parts within 48 hours.
On Sunday, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Narsapuram, Tuni, Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Gannavaram, Jangamaheswara Puram, and Bapatla witnessed heat wave conditions. The mercury levels in the state will dip from June 21.
As per the IMD-Amaravati, Bapatla registered the highest temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius in the state on Sunday, followed by Kakinada 42.1Ā°C, Machilipatnam 42Ā°C, Jangamaheswarapuram 42Ā°C, Ongole 41.8Ā°C, Tuni 41.7Ā°C, Gannavaram 41.4Ā°C, Visakhapatnam 41.4Ā°C, Narsapur 41.4Ā°C, Kavali 40.9Ā°C, Amaravati 40.8Ā°C, Nandigama 40.6Ā°C and Nandyal 40Ā°C. The temperature dropped in Visakhapatnam from 44.4 degrees to 41 degrees.
According to the IMD Amaravati director Stella, This year, it is expected that Andhra Pradesh state will receive normal rainfall during the monsoon. Parts of the state will witness rainfall activity in the last week of June. In 2022, the monsoon arrived in Andhra Pradesh on June 13, and it covered the entire Andhra Pradesh on June 20. The state recorded 575.6 mm rainfall in 2022, which is 10% more than the normal 514 mm.
