Monsoon forecast: Heavy rain expected to cover north coastal AP from July 17 to 21
Massive rains are expected in North Telangana, which can bring huge floods to the river by this weekend.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 July 2023 11:34 AM GMTAmaravati: Amaravati: The Amaravati Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in the next five days, from July 17 to July 21.
The Met department has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places over north coastal parts of the state, Yanam (part of Union Territory of Puducherry) and south coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next five days.
As per the weather bulletin issued on Monday, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Sikar, Orai, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Balasore and consequently southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal. It extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
The low-pressure area over west Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh and north interior Odisha has become less marked. However, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over south Jharkhand and the neighbourhood and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
A shear zone runs roughly along 20Ā°N between 4.5 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal within 48 hours.
Avoid trips to Godavari
With heavy rains likely this week, weathermen advise against a trip to the Godavari River. Massive rains are expected in North Telangana, which can bring huge floods to the river by this weekend.

According to Vizag weatherman Sai Kiran, weather models indicate flooding rains, which might affect people who live in Godavari catchment areas.
