`Monster dad': Man rapes, impregnates 14YO daughter in AP's Prakasham district

Prakasam: A 49-year-old man allegedly raped and impregnated his 14-year-old daughter in Bestavaripeta Mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.
The incident came to light on Friday after the girl's grandparents found that she was five months pregnant. She had complained of stomach pain and was shifted to taken to a doctor for a checkup.
Bestavaripeta police said the accused was a chronic alcoholic. He had allegedly sexually assaulted his daughter in January 2021 when his wife went out to buy some stuff for a mango orchard near Shingarapalle village.
Though the victim girl had informed her mother and elder sister about the incident, they remained silent as the accused allegedly threatened them with dire consequences.
When the girl complained of stomach pain, her grandparents took the girl to a government hospital where the doctors were surprised to find that she was five months pregnant.
The victim narrated the entire episode to her grandmother. The grandparents took the girl to Bestavaripeta police station and lodged a compliant against the accused.
The accused along with his wife fled from the spot even before the police reached the location. They also switched off their mobile phones to avoid tracking.
Police said that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and section 376 of IPC.
Police have formed a special team to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, the girl was sent to a government hospital for medical examination.
