Nandi idol damaged in Prakasam temple; BJP demands inquiry

Bapatla: Some unknown persons damaged the Nandi idol at a temple in Kanaparthy village under NG Pandu police station limits in Prakasam district. The incident happened on Monday night.
According to the Prakasam district superintendent of police (SP), Malika Garg, thieves who tried to steal from the temple may have vandalised the Nandi idol. "There's a black residue and we suspect the thieves hit it with a hard object and not explosives as is being speculated," the SP said.

The police inspected CCTV footage, and a special team has been formed to look into the case. Meanwhile, the idol has been seized and will be sent for forensic analysis.
BJP national secretary and Andhra Pradesh (AP) affairs co-incharge Sunil Deodhar tweeted about the incident alleging no action has been taken by the "anti-Hindu YSRCP government." BJP leaders Somu Veer Raju and others demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident.
