Navy Day: President Murmu fourth head of state to attend function at Vizag
This is the fourth time that the President of India, who is the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, will be visiting Vizag city to attend the Indian Navy’s events.

This will be her first visit to Vizag and Andhra Pradesh. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) and Vizag district administration have received preliminary information about the President's visit to Vizag and they are waiting for the final confirmation for her visit.
This is the fourth time that the President of India, who is the Supreme Commander of the armed forces, will be visiting Vizag city to attend the Indian Navy's events.
Earlier President Ramnath Kovind conducted the Fleet Review off the Vizag coast in the Bay of Bengal in February this year. Prior to that President Pranab Mukherjee reviewed the International parade of the fleet at IFR on the Vizag coast in 2016.
The then President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had created history by becoming India's first head of state to undertake an undersea sortie. During his fleet review held in Vizag in 2006, Dr. Abdul Kalam traveled on the INS Sindhurakshak, a Russian-origin class submarine, for a duration of three and a half hours.
If all goes as per the plan, the Western and Southern Commands of the Indian Navy will be participating in the December 4 Navy Day events in Vizag city.
Naval officials had a meeting with the Vizag District Collector A Mallikarjuna and police officers and discussed some security arrangements.
Governor of Andhra Pradesh Biswabhushan Harichandan and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be participating in the Navy Day celebrations along with the President. Naval Operational Demonstration (Ops Demo) which will be conducted at RK Beach in Vizag city on December 4 evening this year after a gap of two years.
On the day of the Ops Demo, the RK beach in Vizag normally reflects a war zone as well as a tourist spot, with hundreds of people lining up the beach to watch the display of the Navy's maritime, air, and onshore capabilities, putting forth the might of its fleet.
"We missed the Ops Demo on Navy Day for the past two years due to Covid-19. We are eagerly waiting to see the men-in-sea force, ships, submarines, and various Naval aircraft and choppers and the breath-taking operational display of the Navy personnel," said R Sanjay, a resident of Vizag city.
