Nellore couple in extramarital relationship end their lives

Nellore: A young couple ended their lives in a private lodge in Nellore on the night of 29 January. The two, Harish and Lavanya, were village secretariat employees.

The police said Harish, who is from Chittamur mandal in Nellore district, worked as an assistant engineer in Mettu secretariat while Lavanya from Naidupet worked as a VRO there.

Harish had recently married a close relative and Lavanya, too, has married another secretariat employee from Sydapuram mandal in the district. The duo, however, had fallen in love with each other before their marriage and their relationship continued even after they were married. Their relatives were unhappy with their affair and wanted them to break it off.

On Friday, Harish and Lavanya checked into a private lodge in Padarupalli on the outskirts of Nellore city. Harish and Lavanya had told their families they were moving to Nellore for some work. But they did not return to their homes that night. The couple had ended their lives in the lodge by hanging themselves with a scarf.

The incident came to light when the police launched a search for the duo after their relatives complained that they were missing. Harish left a suicide note for his brother.

The bodies were shifted to GGH for post-mortem. The police have registered a case and an investigation is on.
