New low-pressure system brewing over Bay of Bengal; heavy rain alert for Rayalaseema

Amaravati: A low-pressure area developed over the South Andaman Sea on November 22, 2025, influenced by yesterday’s surface circulation over the central parts of the Strait of Malacca.

It is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24, 2025. Subsequently, it is likely to continue moving west-northwestwards and further strengthen over the southwest Bay of Bengal over the next 48 hours.

Yellow alert has been issued for Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema.

Meanwhile, northeasterly and easterly winds are prevailing in the lower troposphere over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam

Today:

• Dry weather is likely.

• Strong surface winds may occur, with gusts reaching 30–40 km/h.

Tomorrow & Day After:

• Dry conditions are expected to continue.

South Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Today & Tomorrow:

• Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places.

• Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are possible at one or two locations.

Overall:

• Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places.

• Isolated thunderstorms with lightning are possible.

Rayalaseema

Today:

• Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places.

• Heavy rainfall is expected at several locations.

• Thunderstorms with lightning are possible at one or two places.

Tomorrow:

• Moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers are likely at many places.

• Isolated thunderstorms with lightning are possible.
