Visakhapatnam: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 23 June conducted searches at multiple locations in Telangana and arrested three people in connection with the Pedabayalu CPI (Maoist) recruitment case.
NIA conducted searches at three locations in Telangana in the districts of Ranga Reddy, Medak, and Secunderabad and arrested three people. The case pertains to the conspiracy and recruitment of a college student into the fold of the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI(Maoist) by the leaders and members of Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS), a frontal organisation of CPI (Maoist).
The case was initially registered at the Pedabayalu police station in Visakhapatnam district (now Alluri Sitarama Raju district) in Andhra Pradesh on 3 January 2022. NIA re-registered the case on 3 June and took over the investigation.
During the searches conducted on Thursday, incriminating materials, including digital devices, were seized.
Based on the searches, NIA arrested the three accused for their involvement in motivating and recruiting youth for the proscribed organisation CPI (Maoist).
The arrested were identified as Dongari Devendra, a resident of Gandhi Nagar under Ghatkesar mandal; Dubasi Swapna, a resident of Hayathnagar; and Chukka Shilpa, a resident of Khairatabad. Further investigation into the case continues.
