`No country for women': Engineering student murdered in broad daylight at Guntur
An engineering student was stabbed to death at Kakani Road in Guntur city on Sunday. The deceased was identified as N Ramya, a B.Tech third-year student.

Locals said that one youngster on a bike followed the girl. He is suspected to be her classmate.

Locals said that a bike-borne youth first stabbed her and later slit her throat near her residence before fleeing from the spot. The accused is suspected to be a classmate of Ramya.
Locals said that the accused asked the girl to come with him. When she refused, the accused slit her throat and managed to escape.
Director-General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang said the accused was arrested after examining the CCTV footage. He warned the youth to be cautious about social media friendships.
Home minister Mekathoti Sucharita visited GGH where the body of Ramya was shifted. She said stringent action will be taken against the accused. She noted that police have got some leads about the accused.
Woman Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma said that the incident has shocked the conscience of everyone. She said the police are investigating the case and the person responsible will be brought to the book.
Police have seized the mobile phone of the victim for forensics.
The family of Ramya has demanded immediate arrest severe punishment to the accused.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Rs.10 lakh ex-gratia to the bereaved family. He directed the officials to speed up the investigation.
