Vizianagaram: As part of the "One Station, One Product" concept, kiosks have been set up at the Vizianagaram and Chipurupalli railway stations where local handicrafts and products by local artisans will be displayed. The Waltair division, in association with locally-recognised handicrafts and artisans, launched the "One Station, One Product" kiosks. It was inaugurated by divisional railway manager Anup Satpathy.
The initiative was announced by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her budget speech earlier this year. This concept was first launched at the Tirupati railway station to promote Kalamkari crafts and at the Visakhapatnm railway station to promote Etikoppaka toys. Stalls for local artifacts were also opened at Rayagada, Jagdalpur, Duvvada, and Paralakhemundi stations.
The new kiosks at the Vizianagaram and Chipurupalli stations will display jute products in association with Gogu Kiranalu Producers, a local jute products manufacturing unit. A wide variety of jute products like bags, laptop bags, canvas, and sacks will be sold at these kiosks.
