Ongole MP assassination: Telangana HC grants one month bail to convicted Maoist leader Ganesh

By Newsmeter Network Published on 5 July 2023 2:32 AM GMTHyderabad: Telangana High Court granted one-month interim bail to former Maoist leader PVB Ganesh who is serving a life sentence for killing Ongole MP Magunta Subbarami Reddy.
A division bench of Justice Kunuru Lakshman and Justice P. Sree Sudha granted one-month interim bail to P. Venkata Bala Ganesh who was sentenced to life for gunning down Ongole MP Magunta Subbarami Reddy in 1995.
PVB Ganaesh, who is undergoing a life sentence in Cherlapally Jail, is presently on parole for 30 days, which is going to end on July 5. Ganeshās counsel B.Nalin Kumar argued that given his good conduct in jail, he may be granted bail.
Government Pleader for Home Samala Ravinder informed the court that he has no objection to granting interim bail to the accused since he is a reformed Convict. He said the state government has already recommended the release of the accused. He said they have addressed letters to the central government for consideration as part of the consultation.
The petition was filed by Joshi Madhavi, wife of PVB Ganesh, seeking interim bail for the convict on health and financial grounds.
The Court granted interim bail to P. Venkata Bala Ganesh till August 4. The court also directed Ganesh to furnish a personal bond for Rs.10,000 with two sureties of the same sum each to the satisfaction of the Superintendent, Central Prison, Cherlapally, Ranga Reddy District, Hyderabad.
The accused PVB Ganesh shall have to surrender before the Superintendent of Jail, on August 4 before 5 PM without fail.
