PM to launch ₹57,962 Cr Amaravati devp plan on May 2; Andhra to mobilize 5L people

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government is bracing up to mobilize five lakh people to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event to relaunch development works in Amaravati
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Amaravati on May 2 to launch 94 development works worth ₹57,962 crore across sectors.
He will reach Amaravati at 3.25 pm on May 2, and will participate in a brief roadshow before reaching the venue. As part of the Amaravati capital development, foundation stones will be laid for the High Court, Assembly, Secretariat, and residential quarters for judges, Members of the Legislative Assembly, ministers, and All India Services officers.
The Union Government extended strong support by granting Rs 15,000 crore in financial assistance for capital development.
The restart of Amaravati comes as a major victory for nearly 30,000 farmers who voluntarily contributed over 33,000 acres under the land pooling scheme during the earlier TDP regime.
What are the projects?
1. These include capital city institutions, national highways, railwayupgrades, and defence-related installations.
2. Modi will lay the foundation for 74 projects worth ₹49,000 crore, including the construction of the Assembly, Secretariat,High Court, and judicial residential quarters.
3. Foundation stones will be laid for projects worth ₹5,028crore, including ₹1,459 Cr DRDO Missile Testing Centre at Nagayalanka, ₹100 Cr Unity Mall at #Visakhapatnam, ₹293 Cr Guntakal–Mallappa Gate Rail Overbridge.
4. Foundation stone for 6 new National Highway projects worth ₹3,176 Cr.
5. Inaugurate 8 completed NH projects worth ₹3,680crore.
6. 3 Railway projects valued at ₹254 crore will be dedicated to the nation.
According to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Amaravati region will be developed as a model capital under India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision. It holds immense potential in IT, AI, green energy, clean industries, education, and culture.
To facilitate public participation from across the state, the government has arranged over 8,000 buses, enabling smooth transport from both nearby and distant districts.
Transport & Coordination:
8 districts surrounding Amaravati have been allocated 6,600 buses, anticipating a high turnout from these regions.
The remaining districts will contribute through 1,400 buses, serving 120 constituencies across the state.
Buses are expected to reach villages by tonight, ensuring early morning departure for a timely arrival.
All buses will arrive at the venue by noon tomorrow.
A government employee has been appointed as in-charge for each bus, responsible for bringing people to the venue and ensuring their safe return*
Additionally, a mandal-level officer has been appointed to supervise and coordinate logistics.
Public Welfare & Health Arrangements:
The Civil Supplies Department has been tasked with providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all attendees.
Buttermilk, ORS packets, and fruits will be distributed along the routes and at the venue considering the harsh summer conditions.
Temporary health centers have been set up along major routes leading to Amaravati.
A medical team with six members will be stationed in the galleries of the House to offer on-spot medical aid if required.
