Police have recovered stolen property including the golden crown of the Goddess.
The arrested have been identified as P Umesh, 43, and his son U Dhiraj, 19, and a younger son who is a juvenile. The trio hail from South Kundra in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Naidu.
On March 21, the trio broke into the temple and decamped with over 250 grams of gold jewelry, including the crown of the Goddess, four kgs of silver ornaments, and around Rs 3.25 lakh cash from the hundi (collection box). The gang also snapped the connection to 17 CCTV cameras and took away the hard disc along with the DVR.
Commissioner of police Manish Kumar Sinha on Thursday told reporters that they collected the CCTV footage at few places and also gathered the technical evidence to bust the gang.
Sinha said Dhiraj was arrested near the Payakaraopeta area in Vizag region on the charges of ganja smuggling on February 26 this year. After he was bailed out, he along with the other accused visited Polamamba temple a couple of times.
Sinha said they found the instrument used for breaking locks. They located the buyer, examined the CCTV footage of the shop, and identified the trio. Police recovered the stolen gold and silver jewelry and Rs 2.4 lakh cash from them.
