Polavaram, Markapuram and Madanapalle declared new AP districts

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the formation of three new districts—Polavaram, Markapuram and Madanapalle—taking the state’s total district count from 26 to 29.

The government has also given the green signal for five new revenue divisions, including Nakkapalle, Addanki, Peeleru, Banaganapalle and Madakasira.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu cleared the proposals during a review meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat on Tuesday, based on recommendations submitted by the Ministers’ Committee on district reorganisation.

The proposals will now be placed before the Cabinet for final approval, following which a formal notification will be issued.
