Visakhapatnam: Anakapalle police busted an inter-state arms racket and arrested four people from Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Haryana, and Visakhapatnam.

The arrested people have been identified as Samrat Dhali from Udhamsingh Nagar in Uttarakhand, Abhishek Kumar from New Delhi, Mohit from Subhana Jhajjar in Haryana and Chukka Balagangadhar from Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam.

Circle inspector of Anakapalle Town Police L Bhaskar Rao said last month one Bheesetti Lokanadha Rao died in King George Hospital after consuming poison.

On December 3, when his relatives were cleaning the house, they found two pistols, 3 magazines, and 18 live rounds. Later, the deceased's father in law Karri Sankar Rao informed the police about the recovery.

Another person Thadi Prasanna Kumar lodged a complaint that he was threatened by some persons who pistol-whipped him and demanded money. He provided mobile phone numbers of the people who had threatened him.

Police immediately registered a case and began an inquiry. They found Lokanadha Rao had links with Samrat Dhali and Abhishek Kumar. They arrested Samrat from New Delhi who later confessed that on instructions from Abhishek Kumar, he procured pistols and magazines from Mohit of Haryana and delivered them to Lokanadha Rao. Police arrested Abhishek Kumar and later released him as he was bedridden and unable to move.

Mohit was brought to Anakapalle and later sent to judicial remand after producing him in the court.

Police also arrested Chukka Balagangadhar of Anakapalle who hatched the plan with Loakanadham to extract money from the people at the point of the gun. He had lost money in online gambling.

The CI said Lokanadha Rao had procured arms to kill his wife and father in law who had allegedly taken all the money he earned while working in Gulf countries.
