A police inspector died when he slipped from the staircase while trying to chase away a lizard at his residence in Guntur city.

Police inspector falls to death chasing lizard at Guntur

Guntur: A police inspector died when he slipped from the staircase while trying to chase away a lizard at his residence in Guntur city.

Identified as Sesha Rao, he was awaiting posting in vacancy reserve.

Police said Rao was trying to chase away a lizard in the corridor of his residence when the incident occurred. Police said he climbed the staircase but lost balance and fell to the ground.

Rao sustained a head injury and was rushed to a private hospital. However, he succumbed to his wounds later.

Initially, family members of Rao raised suspicions over death as the incident took place at his friend's house. Eventually, CCTV footage cleared the doubts as it clearly showed him chasing a lizard which resulted in his fall.

Police have registered a case under section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death) and the investigation is on.
