PRC scales: Andhra employees to go on indefinite strike from Feb 6

Andhra Pradesh: All employee and teachers' unions announced to go on an indefinite strike from February 6 against 11th PRC scales.

The new PRC scale was approved by the Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Friday. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

`PRC Sadhana Samithi', an umbrella body of employee and teachers unions, met AP Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma on Friday at Amaravati and asked him to extend old PRC pay scales to employees.

"The new PRC scales will result in low salaries to all the employees. The government neither considered employees' demands nor the Ashutosh Mishra Committee report for the 11th PRCT. However, recommendations of IAS officers were considered, which is completely against employees' interests," said Bopparaju Venkateswarulu, Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (APJAC)

According to employee unions, over the years, the price of essential commodities, house rents, and other expenses have increased but fitments are given less than the Interim Relief (IR).

The employee unions decided to hold rallies and dharnas from January 25 in all the districts across the state. The unions have also decided to hold a relay hunger strike in all the district centers from January 27- 30 and Chalo Vijayawada event on February 3.
