Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has expressed strong dissatisfaction over serious lapses in medical services at the government hospitals in Kakinada and Rajahmundry.
In a incident that happened on November 20, an eight-month pregnant woman from Gadimoga village in Tallarevu mandal, died at Kakinada Government General Hospital (GGH) reportedly due to medical negligence.
Despite clear notes in her case sheet indicating allergies to pantoprazole, along with hypertension and diabetes, a PG student reportedly administered a Pantap injection without considering these warnings.
The patient suffered seizures shortly afterward and died of cardiac arrest at around 10 p.m. Preliminary findings also point to lack of proper supervision by the assistant professor.
Taking a stern view of the incident, he directed officials to initiate strict action against the doctors and staff found negligent in their duties.
In another incident, a 55-year-old patient at the Rajahmundry Government Hospital was administered expired medicines dated October 2025, leading to further deterioration of the patient’s condition.
The Chief Minister ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged negligence by the medical personnel and instructed the authorities to take immediate disciplinary action based on the findings. He also advised officials to extend support to the family of Malleswari.
Naidu directed officials to ensure such incidents do not recur in government health facilities.
