Rajya Sabha poll: Jagan fulfills promise, allots 50% seats to BC community members

By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 May 2022 2:07 AM GMTAmaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday allotted 50 percent of Rajya Sabha seats to the members of the backward caste (BC) community.
Ryga Krishnaiah and Beeda Masthan Rao, who are from the BC community, were given Rajya Sabha tickets. At the same time, the other two seats were given to V Vijayasai Reddy and S Niranjana Reddy.
V Vijayasai Reddy (64) was renominated by the party for the second time. Dr. Beeda Masthan Rao is a former Kavali MLA and champion of the Aqua industry in the state since 1991.
S Niranjan Reddy (50) is a senior advocate in the Supreme Court. He had appeared as special senior counsel for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
R Krishnaiah (68) is a senior BC Welfare leader and two-time MLA. He is currently President of the National BC Association.
The Election Commission of India recently announced that the poll for 57 Rajya Sabha seats spread across 15 states would be held on June 10. Considering the strength of the Party in the Legislative Assembly, YSRCP will all the four seats.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister, who is steadfast in social inclusivity gave 70% of cabinet berths to BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities. Seventeen out of 25 cabinet ministers represent weaker sections.
