Red sandalwood worth Rs. 1.5 Cr seized from Chittoor; 18 smugglers arrested
The police arrested 18 red sandalwood smugglers and seized 290 red sandalwood logs weighing 3 tonnes and a vehicle worth Rs 3 lakh. The logs are worth Rs 1.5 crore.

Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh: Inspired by the movie Pushpa starred Allu Arjun, which is based on red sandalwood smugglers, Chittoor Police seized huge amounts of Red sandal wood while being transported by the smugglers.
The police arrested 18 red sandalwood smugglers and seized 290 red sandalwood logs weighing 3 tonnes and a vehicle worth Rs 3 lakh. The logs are worth Rs 1.5 crore.
On reliable information, Puthuru sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) TD Yeswanth under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police S Sendhil Kumar conducted vehicles checks on Uthukota-Puthuru highway road, Palamangalam gramam junction on 18 December at 2 am. Four smugglers transporting 20 red sandalwood logs were caught. Based on the information given by the arrested smugglers, police raided Pandulayya Kona hill, caught 14 red sandalwood smugglers, and seized 270 red sandalwood logs.
A case has been registered.
