Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu has urged Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to restore flights from Kadapa for ensuring better connectivity and greater development opportunities.
In a letter to the Chief Minister here, Naidu said prospective investors and the common public were facing a lot of problems after the flight service was canceled between Kadapa and important destinations.
In 2018, flights were introduced to ensure air connectivity to Kadapa. People of both the Kadapa and Nellore districts benefitted from the service, he said.
But now, the service was stopped for reasons best known to the present rulers. Transportation and air connectivity would play a key role in the development of the industrial and services sectors.
He said the previous TDP regime made good use of the 'UDAN' programme. Flights were introduced between tier-2 and tier-3 cities. "If there are no flights, people have to reach Vijayawada from Kadapa via Tirupati, Chennai, or Bangalore. That would consume a lot of time and money," he said.
Naidu stressed the need for putting the necessary focus on air connectivity considering its key role in attracting investors and industrial development. Opportunities can be created only with the creation of such proactive facilities, he said.
