Vijayawada: Revenue has emerged as the most corrupt department in Andhra Pradesh in 2021.

Many people expressed anger over the corrupt practices of revenue officials, the latest Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) data revealed.

ACB data revealed that out of the 72 traps laid by the ACB in 2021, 36 of them (exactly 50 percent) were against the Revenue department personnel in the state.


Eight of the 72 cases were registered against the officials of the energy department, seven Panchayat Raj, six home department, five municipal administration, and 10 other departments.

ACB officials said that the Revenue department personnel accepted the biggest bribes for doling out official favor in 2021. Three Mandal Revenue Officers (MROs) have collectively taken more than Rs 10 lakh bribe.

The ACB also registered 12 disproportionate asset cases this year along with 45 surprise checks, 11 criminal misconduct cases, and 26 regular inquiries.


The biggest disproportionate asset case of the year is against B Nagabhushanam, managing director of Most Backward Classes Welfare Development (MBCWD) Corporation who had amassed over Rs100 crore as market value ( Rs 10 crore as per document value) worth of assets.

Of the total 45 surprise checks in 2021, 26 of them have been conducted on the revenue department, six on transport, roads and buildings dept, five on municipal administration and urban development offices, two each on energy, labor, PR & RD department, and one each on education, environment, forest, science & technology, social welfare and women development, and child welfare departments.
