Rs. 2 cr cash seized from RTC bus passenger in NTR district

NTR: The police seized Rs. 2 crore cash that was being transported in an RTC bus in the newly-formed NTR district.

On reliable information, the police conducted checks near the Garikapada border check-post in Jaggaiahpet mandal in the district. A man travelling in the bus was behaving suspiciously so the police checked his bag and found cash.

The RTC bus was going from Hyderabad to Kakinada.

The money was seized and the man was arrested. The police are investigating the case. More details are yet to be ascertained.

In a similar incident on 1 April, the West Godavari police had seized around Rs. 4.76 crore cash in a private bus and arrested 11 members, including the driver and the cleaner. The police were conducting checks near the Veeravalli toll plaza in Nallajerla mandal in the district when they found boxes hidden behind the bus's luggage cabin and under the passenger seats. The police found cash packed in small boxes and also 350 grams of gold.

It was discovered that a few gold merchants from Srikakulam were sending money to Guntur to buy gold and taking back the gold in the same bus.
