SDC case: Andhra government accuses petitioners of creating obstacles, causing embarrassment

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government counsel Dushyant Dave on Wednesday said petitioners, who have challenged the creation of State Development Corporation (SDC) in high court, are trying to create obstacles and cause embarrassment to the state.

He opposed the conduct of petitioners in filing frequent Interlocutory Applications (IAs).

Dave, who represents the Andhra government, said after 65 days of the first listing of the matter, fresh IAs are filed seeking impleadment of banks, amendment of the prayer. He said it shows that the petitioners are not interested in the disposal of the matter but to cause obstacles and embarrassment to the State.

He said they want to write letters to the banks and create a situation. It was also submitted that he was opposing the impleadment of banks and other reliefs sought in the IAs. In case the petitioners don't press the IAs, the State said it would proceed with the matters.

However, the petitioners insisted that the IAs are necessary to be heard whereupon four weeks time was sought for filing counter.

Dave said it is hoped that there won't be further IAs to procrastinate the matter when it gets listed next time.

The court adjourned the matter to October 7 for further hearing.
