Srikakulam: In a major haul, the officials of the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) seized over 10,000 hooch sachets (country-made liquor) that was transported from Odisha to Srikakulam through sea route at Dhonipeta village Ranastahalm mandal in Srikakulam district on Tuesday.

Srikakulam police superintendent Amit Bardar said that based on credible information, SEB officials along with the local police carried out a raid in the coastal area off Dhonipeta under Ranastahalam mandal.

The team seized over 10,000 hooch sachets (1,836 litres) and arrested six persons who transported the hooch through sea route from Odisha. The seized hooch was worth over Rs. 3.6 lakh.

Mr. Bardar said that the hooch was brewed at Baigam village under the Ganjam district of Odisha. The smugglers took the sea route to transport the hooch from Odisha to Andhra Pradesh by using a motorboat and landed in Dhonipeta village of Srikakulam district.
