Srikakulam: 7 Jyothiba Phule school students taken ill; food poisoning suspected

This is the second incident in the last one month. Last month, 150 students suffered food poisoning at Ramakrishnapuram Gurukula School in Sattenapalli Mandal in Palnadu District.

Srikakulam: 7 Jyothiba Phule school students taken ill; food poisoning suspected

Srikakulam: Seven students of Class VIII were taken ill after having dinner at the Jyothiba Phule girl's residential school hostel in Palasa, Srikakulam. Students on Wednesday night complained of headaches and vomiting after having dinner. They were immediately rushed to CHC hospital.

All the students are now out of danger. Doctors at Palasa CHC will continue monitoring the health of students closely.

Doctors have also been directed to shift students to other hospitals if the need be. Tahasildar along with the medical team visited the hostel and hospital.


This is the second incident in the last one month. Last month, 150 students suffered food poisoning at Ramakrishnapuram Gurukula School in Sattenapalli Mandal, Ramakrishna Puram Village of Palnadu District.

In November 2022, similar food poisoning was reported at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technology (RGUKT), Etcherla, in the Srikakulam district. Around 320 students had fallen ill.

In another incident, 28 students fell ill at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in the Veeraballi area in the Annamayya district.
