Student rescued at Duvvada railway station dies of multiple organ failure

Visakhapatnam: A day after a video of the Railway Protection Force rescuing a 20-year-old student caught between a train compartment and the platform at Duvvada railway station went viral, the student died while undergoing treatment at KIMS ICON, Sheela Nagar. She is said to have suffered multiple organ failure and internal bleeding.

M. Sasi Kala of Annavaram was studying MCA at a private college in Duvvada. She travelled to her college every day by train.

On 7 December, Sasi Kala, as usual, took the Guntur–Rayagada Express to go to college. When the train stopped at Duvvada railway station, she slipped while de-boarding the train and got stuck between the platform and the train. After an hour of struggle, the RPF team broke the platform and rescued her.

During that time, she was severely injured, especially her spine. She was shifted to KIMS ICON hospital. After being kept under observation in the ICU, Sasi Kala died due to multiple organ failure on Thursday.

After hearing the news, her college mates and the college management rushed to the hospital.
