SVBC staff caught watching porn videos during working hours, action initiated

Tirupati: The staffers of the TTD's Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) were caught watching pornography during working hours at the office at Tirumala of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. The SVBC was establish to telecast spiritual programmes.

The lid blew off when one devotee had mailed the SVBC staff for TDD Shatamanam Bhavati Programme ( It is a program where devotees who wish to greet their relatives' friends or family have to send their pictures). However, in a rude shock the devotee in return received porn site video link from the SVBC staffer. This resulted in a complainant file with TTD authorities, seeking action against those who sent the porn site video link.

Following the complaint, TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy and Executive Officer of TTD, KS Jawahar Reddy ordered a probe into the incident. The officials of TTD Vigilance and Cyber Crime Team carried out surprise inspections at SVBC office.

During inspection, the officials observed that five employees were watching porn videos during the working hours within the office. Cybercrime team also found another 25 staffers involved in watching obscene videos ignoring their duties in the office. As part of the investigation, security audited all computers at SVBC with about 25 software engineers from TTD. The cyber cell team investigation revealed that three or four other employees had done similar things.

SVBC CEO on Wednesday said, The employee working as an OSO (attendant) on the Sri Venkateswara Bhakti channel had been sacked. "In September this year, a devotee by the name of Sri Venkata Krishna requested an e-mail for details about the Shatamana Bhavati program. The SVBC employee sent a link to the pornographic website to the devotee from sb@svbcttd.org. The devotee complained to the TTD chairman, Evola.

In the aftermath of this incident several policy decisions were made as part of protecting the company's reputation. The SVBC computer operation is now overseen by the TTD IT department. A password is set for each computer on SVBC. So that you know who is using which computer. Similarly
