TDP leaders serve food at Tenali Anna canteen despite orders, arrested

Tenali: A few TDP leaders were arrested in Tenali in Guntur district on 3 September following a tussle with the police over serving food at the Anna canteen. Police had been deployed near the Municipal Market complex on Saturday after the municipal authorities issued a notice to remove the Anna canteen. But the TDP leaders continued to serve food. The police then tried to stop them and seize the food containers.

Similar incidents were earlier seen in Nandigama, Mangaligiri, and Kuppam.

Anna canteen was set up at the Municipal Market Complex in Tenali on 12 August. Two days ago, the authorities issued a notice to remove the canteen due to traffic issues. However, the TDP leaders started an argument with the police alleging the role of ruling party members.

The TDP took to Twitter to blame Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy for taking away food from the poor.
