Temperature hits 50 year low in Vijayawada; settles at 12.9 degree C
On December 22, 2010, the temperature in Vijayawada was recorded at 13.1 degree C. Likewise, the temperature in the city hit 13.4 degree C on December 29, 1984, and 13.7 degree C on December 21, 1995.

According to the weathermen, Vijayawada had last recorded the lowest temperature of 13 degree C on December 14, 1970.

On December 22, 2010, the temperature in Vijayawada was recorded at 13.1 degree C. Likewise, the temperature in the city hit 13.4 degree C on December 29, 1984, and 13.7 degree C on December 21, 1995.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said some parts of Andhra Pradesh are witnessing cold wave conditions.
Anantapur recorded temperature of 13.4 degree C, Kalinagapatnam 11.8 degree C, Jangamaheswapuram-11 degree C, Amaravati 13.3 degree C, Bapatla 12.3 degree C, Chittoor 11 degree C, Kadapa 12 degree C, and Nandigama 11.8 degree C.
Vizag agency continues to record single-digit temperatures with chilly weather conditions. On Wednesday, G Madugula recorded a temperature of 5.4 degree C; Pedabayulu 5.7 degree C; Araku valley 7 degree C; Munchingput 6.3 degree C; Dumbriguda 6.8 degree C and Chintapalli 8.9 degree C.
IMD said cold wave conditions will prevail in some districts of Andhra Pradesh for the next three days.
"Winds coming from North are cold and dry. There is also an anti-cyclonic circular presence which is resulting in cold wave conditions. Bapatla, Guntur, Kalingapatnam, Vijayawada, and Kurnool are likely to witness minimum temperatures below 13 degree C for the next three days", said Stella, Director of IMD, Amaravati.
