Vijayawada: Tension gripped Mangalagiri on Monday evening when a female Aghori Naga Sadhvi staged a protest on the Chennai-Vijayawada National Highway (NH).

The protest caused a traffic jam for a few hours. This is the third such incident in the last three weeks.

According to the locals, the Aghori arrived at a garage and asked for her car wash. When a news reporter tried to capture photos and videos, she attacked him with Trisulam causing serious wounds to him. She also injured some of the locals.

Later, she staged a sit-in on the NH and caused a traffic jam near the Janasena Party office. She reportedly was trying to meet Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

A police team who rushed to the spot tried to take Aghori into custody but she attacked the women cops. Police convinced her to wear clothes and controlled the situation.

While the purpose of her visit to Mangalagiri is yet to be ascertained, some locals said that she is currently visiting temples in Andhra Pradesh in her car.

In a similar incident, an Aghori created panic by trying to self-immolate at the famous Srikalahasti temple in Tirupati district on November 7. The Aghori who came to visit Srikalahasti temple tried to enter the temple but the security guards did not allow her to enter because she was not wearing clothes. An altercation broke out and the Aghori pulled out a can of petrol from her car, poured it on her body, and attempted to immolate herself. The police snatched away the petrol can and shifted her to a nearby hospital.

Two weeks ago, an Aghori behaved rudely with the toll-gate staff near Nakkapalli tollgate and demanded their arrest.

The Aghori claimed that the toll-gate staff and some of the locals had inappropriately touched her and later apologized. She argued that such behavior was unacceptable and demanded immediate action.

"If the condition of a Naga Sadhviā€™ is like this, what protection women would have in society? How can the staff behave that way? He (the person responsible) has to be taken into custody. This is the reason why ā€˜kaliyugamā€™ is changing,ā€ she said demanding FIR be lodged.
