TTD chief BR Naidu rejects ‘clean chit’ claims, says SIT established adulteration
Tirupati: The SIT chargesheet has clearly established that adulterated ghee was used in the preparation of Tirumala Srivari laddus, said Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman BR Naidu.
Addressing a press conference at the Padmavathi Rest House here on Friday, Naidu stated that attempts are being made to mislead devotees by falsely claiming a ‘clean chit’ in the case, and asserted that strict action would be taken against those who compromised the sanctity of TTD.
SIT findings nail ghee adulteration
The TTD chairman said claims that no adulteration had taken place were ‘completely untrue,’ pointing out that the SIT chargesheet itself records clear evidence of adulteration.
He alleged that serious violations occurred during the ghee procurement tender process, with rules being altered to benefit select parties.
Rules violated in ghee tenders
According to Naidu, ghee supply contracts were awarded to agencies that lacked the required production capacity. He alleged that norms were diluted and contracts were granted in a manner that enabled commissions and undue gains.
60 lakh kg adulterated ghee procured at Rs 250 crore
He revealed that around 60 lakh kilograms of adulterated ghee, worth approximately Rs 250 crore, was procured.
Tests conducted by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) reportedly confirmed the presence of animal fat in the ghee supplied to TTD.
No cows, but accused suppliers managed to supply ghee
Naidu also expressed serious concern that some suppliers, despite owning not a single cow or having any real ghee production capability, falsely claimed to manufacture ghee.
He warned that certain chemicals used in the adulteration process were highly dangerous.
20 crore laddus made with adulterated ghee
The chairman alleged that nearly 20 crore laddus were prepared using the adulterated ghee, causing severe damage to the spiritual sanctity of the Tirumala shrine. He said select dairies were chosen solely for commissions.
Demand for an apology to Hindu Society
Accusing certain individuals of deliberately undermining Hindu faith and institutions over the past five years, Naidu said those responsible must apologise to Hindu society.
He strongly condemned what he described as repeated attempts to demean Hindu beliefs.
TTD chief calls for micro DNA testing and financial probe
Dismissing reports of a ‘clean chit’ as false propaganda, the TTD Chairman demanded micro DNA testing to establish the final truth on ghee quality. He also urged the SIT to conduct a comprehensive probe into multi-crore bank transactions, identify benami accounts, and expose the key beneficiaries behind them.
'No compromise on TTD sanctity'
Naidu noted that the issue came to light only after the present coalition government assumed office. He made it clear that there would be no compromise in protecting the sanctity and credibility of TTD.
