Fire accident at Foxlink facility in Tirupati

Tirupati: A massive fire broke out at Foxlink electronics company near Renigunta airport in Tirupati district on Monday. Fire engines rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Sources said, half of the building collapsed and the management estimates that roughly 50% of the machinery has been damaged.

Foxlink is a supplier of Apple and makes cables for iPhones. The unit is located the inAndhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) developed Electronic Manufacturing cluster-I, in Tirupati.

According to sources, about 300 employees were trapped inside the factory when the fire broke out on the first floor of the building. Soon after the fire started, thick smoke engulfed the surrounding area. Employees immediately rushed out.


It is said that large part of the machinery, and some cables were damaged. A committee comprising of officials from industry, fire, police, and electricity has been constituted to know the cause of the fire accident.
