Tirupati: TTD hospital docs transplant brain dead child's heart into 13-month-old baby

Tirupati: A two-year brain-dead child saved the life of a 13-month-old baby by donating her heart. TTD-run Sri Padmavati Children’s Heart Centre (SPCHC) in Tirupati successfully performed the second heart transplantation on a 13-month-old old baby.
TTD EO Dharma Reddy said the infant belongs to Macherla town of Guntur district. She was suffering from chronic heart disease. She first reported to a private hospital in Vijayawada. Later she was brought to SPCHC. On doctors' advice, she got admitted under Jeevandan.
Dr. Srinath Reddy, Director of SPCHC, received information about a brain-dead two-year child at MGM Hospital in Chennai. The hospital coordinated with Dr. Rambabu, in charge of the AP Jeevandan organization, for transporting the heart to Tirupati.
A doctors team from SPCHC collected the heart from the Chennai hospital and reached the hospital within 2.15 hours without Green Corridor. "Dr. Srinath Reddy and his team conducted the operation for five hours. The process costing Rs 30 lakh was done free of cost under TTDs SV Pranadana Trust and AP Government's Arogyasri program. The baby will be discharged after 3 days of observation ", EO said.
This is the second transplantation operation at the hospital. On January 20, the first heart transplantation was performed on teenager Vishweshwar of KSR Agraharam in Annamaiah district.
"In the last 15 months, 1150 patients hailing from AP, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, and Bangladesh underwent heart operation at the hospital," said Dr. Srinath Reddy.
3-month old gets heart treatment:
In another incident, a three-month-old Jharkhand boy gets heart treatment. Luksar Parveen from Ranchi was provided heart treatment successfully. When the baby's mother approached Vellore CMC Hospital for heart treatment, they referred her to SPCHC. The mother thanked the doctors for treating her baby.
