Visakhapatnam: Old rivalry and allegations of witchcraft led to a triple murder in the tribal hamlet of Bagmarvalasa in Anantagiri mandal of Vizag Agency on Wednesday night.

The police said there was an old rivalry between Killo Komati and Gollori Dombu. Recently, Killo Komati was branded a 'tonhi', a man involved in witchcraft (black magic) practices, and was accused of putting spells on people to make them sick.

On Wednesday night, there was a heated agreement between the Komati and Dombu's families. Dombu's son Subba Rao attacked Komati and his sons Killo Bhagwan and Killi Balaram with a knife. Komati was killed on the spot while his sons were severely injured. In retaliation, Komati's relatives attacked Subba Rao and Dombu with wooden logs and iron rods killing the father and son.

Subba Rao, Bhagwan, and Balaram were admitted to a government hospital in Anantagiri where Subba Rao lost his final breath. The locals found the dead body of Dombu on the outskirts of the village.

Circle inspector of Araku Valley police station G.D Babu said a dispute related to suspicions of practicing black magic was the prime motive for the incident. The severely injured Bhagwan and Balaram have been shifted to KG Hospital in Vizag city, he added.
